Local Somerset Honey

We are very pleased to be able to offer a choice of quality local 'set' or 'runny' honeys, produced locally in Creech St. Michael

Somerset Honey Farm

Simon Jones has been keeping bees for more than 35 years. He has 14 apiaries in the local area around Creech St. Michael, many of them located in traditional cider orchards, where the bees play a crucial part by pollinating the apple trees that produce the renowned local cider.

Other sites are on local farms situated around the edge of the Somerset Levels. The numerous wild flower speciues present are ideal for the bees to gather nectar.

Simon has been taking part in a study by the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology for the last 3 years.

They are using honey samples to study the long-term impact on UK floral sources in an ever-changing environment. Some of the honey that he has sent in has had the pollen from as many as 27 different plant species in the sample.

Because the bees have access to so many different flowers, this all adds to the delicious flavour of the honey they produce!
